With a jealously guarded reputation as the world’s most effervescent beverage, Champagne is a natural for a hotel spa. In fact, the first wellness retreat in this north-east France region opened in mid-July promoting the idea that wellness regimes go hand in hand with its namesake product.
Loisium Wine & Spa Hotel Champagne Ghost Spa is a 101-room, modern property from the Austrian-based luxury hotel group that operates two other resorts in the country. The hotel sits in the village of Mutigny, up the hill from Ay, and is a symphony of wood and glass, with interior walls clad in oak and exterior walls framed in black marble.
The spa is just as symphonious, a haven of tranquility that creates a feeling of being on an utterly decadent escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A soothing music playlist and the scent of burning candles help guests to relax as they enter, with a comfortable padded table shrouded in gossamer fabric waiting for them.
Guests can choose from an array of treatments that include everything from the classics like Swedish massage to more innovative offerings such as BrainTap, a session that uses state-of-the-art technology for brainwave entrainment to enhance thinking and sleeping. The hotel also has an outdoor pool, a sauna and steam room and treatment rooms for herbal face and body rituals from Saint Charles Apothecary.
The crown jewel of the spa, however, is its Champagne Lounge that features a cozy fireplace and a full bar, where guests can sip on glasses of bubbly while getting their nails done or indulging in a glass of their favorite champagne-infused face mask. For the best experience, guests are encouraged to pair their treatment with a glass of bubbly or an alcoholic fruit juice to reap the most benefits from each and every service.
